Welcome Deena Remiel

I am so lucky to know so many talented and wonderful authors!  I'm pleased to introduce you to Deena Remiel who fits all my criteria--she's smart, witty, fun and very talented.  And pretty darned nice on top of it!  Needless to say, I'm thrilled to have her on Quinn's Essentials talking about her Brethren Series!  Be sure to leave Deena a comment and you might be a lucky winner of her eBook Trinity!

A little about Deena:  It was the mystique of Arizona’s history and landscape that called to Deena and catapulted her career as an author. When she’s not writing novels and poetry in the wee, small hours of the morning or in the deep, dark of night, Deena teaches language arts to middle school students. She currently lives in Gilbert with her husband and two children, but New Jersey will always tug at her heartstrings.

Welcome Deena!  Tell us about your Brethren Series!
________________________________________

There’s been a lot of talk these days about Michael, Brethren Protector. And rightly so. He’s the hero in TRINITY, Book 1 in the Brethren Series, and there’s a ton to discuss there- his tortured past, the fact that he’s an immortal and an angel, just to mention a few. But now, I feel it’s time to focus attention on Emma Livingston, our heroine. She’s a complicated woman, and given her background, there is much to discuss and admire.

Emma is one fierce mother. Who she is and who she becomes has been shaped long before she was ever born. Sad part about it is, she never knew. But the truth of her lineage and what she has inherited comes to light in a very disturbing set of circumstances. This knowledge threatens the well-being of her daughter, Hannah.

This is where her fierceness comes into play. Hannah is being stalked and terrorized in her dreams by Satan’s henchman, Agremon. Satan needs this child to succeed in his plans for world domination. Now if you were Emma, would you stand for that? Didn’t think so. And neither does she. Doing whatever she must, she protects her daughter from Evil, no matter the consequences to herself.

{…“Hannah! Oh my God, Hannah! He’s gone after her! Michael, we have to wake her up! I won’t let him take my baby girl!” Frantic to go to her daughter, she tore away from him and immediately fell to the floor. But sheer determination got her to her hands and knees scrambling toward her daughter’s bedroom…}

Time and again, throughout the story, Emma reveals herself as a woman who distrusts many and tries to insulate herself and her daughter from the harsh realities of the world. Going through a divorce, while being pregnant, can do that to a person. Having one’s best friend being the other woman makes it that much worse. Therefore, deciding to join forces with the Brethren was not an easy one. And all along the way, she is conflicted. To trust or not to trust, that is the question. Years of cynicism have not been kind and prey upon her conscience.
{…“Emma, I’m so sorry. I thought we would have more time before they arrived. I….” He reached for her arms.
She shrugged him off, not wanting to be calmed or comforted at the moment. “Don’t you give me that bullshit, Michael! You’ve had plenty of time to tell me everything…

There is no way that Hannah is going to get near any more evil than she’s already had contact with. You’re a Protector, you say. Well, protect her, then, damn it. Don’t get her involved in this...”}

Emma’s dedication to her daughter’s safety makes her lose objectivity in certain situations and she winds up making impulsive decisions with dire consequences. Decisions that any one of us would make if we were in her shoes.

{“Enough of this!” Emma snapped, stepping forward. She whipped her head around to Namirha. “We have a deal, Namirha. I suggest you tend to it.” Through their threaded connection, she told Hannah to do whatever Namirha told her to do. Hannah’s face flushed a brilliant red.
“What have you done, Mother? What have you done?” she shouted angrily.
“The only thing I could, angel. I saved your life…”}

So, if you’re fierce in your love for your family and friends, Emma will appeal to you, warts and all. To read more, you can find TRINITY at these locations:

Thank you so much, Erin, for hosting me here today. I LOVE your stories, as you know, and was thrilled to come by today.

During the winter, years ago, as I was driving past some homes, a kid through a snowball at my window. My kids were babies and toddlers at that point and I was livid! My hackles were raised, I immediately stopped the car, got out, and demeanded I speak to a parent. A HUGE man came out, twice my size, and I proceeded to stick out my hand to offer a shake and told him what his son had done. Fierce! lol

I wonder what fierceness our readers have shown in their lives...

LOL! Hmmm that question makes you think! Something fierce? My now teen daughter was picked on by some bullies at her school, encouraged by the parents for their inability to accept any differences in others. I confronted the teacher for not stopping it, the principle for being so lax in what was going on in her school, and the parents for their children's behavior. Granted the parents didn't give a flying fig, but I had done what I could... lol. Fierce but ineffective...

Fierce, huh? Ok..I have 2 that really stick in my head. We had neighbors who had issues with my neices that lived with us, and one day when my daughter was coming to visit with my then-1-year-old grandson in the backseat, they through rocks at her car. I went off!! I went to their house, but the mom was not home, so I left a message for her to stop by. she did..while sitting in her car, which annoyed me even more! I can't repeat here the things I said to those people...even the kids..but I ended it all by telling them that a rock can be considered a deadly weapon if thrown right, and I would have all their "butts" (not my word at the time) arrested. I was mean, nasty and cruel, but I didn't care! The other was in response to 5 years of putting up with my daughter's father's crap. We had split up when she was a baby, and he was still a thorn in my side when she was 6. We had a few words about visitation issues, and I finally said, "Look. I don't care WHAT you think of me or my husband. But if you EVER F#$% with my kid's head, I will string you up by the balls!" That was 25 years ago, and I can still see it in my head lol. Yeah..I meant it. guess he knew it since he didn't come around for 6 months LMAO

Wow i love the little clips from the book. Moms can become warriors for their kids when they need to. I have one son who has special needs and it's me who always goes to bat for him. I do that with other people too. I think as a mom for most of us it's ingrained in us to act. Book sounds fabulous! I've been hearing alot about you Deena on Facebook and twitter lately as well. All good!!! lol

Deena, I love Emma already! I've definitely had my Mama Bear moments over the years. Protecting our young is an important part of how we're wired. I've also had to swallow my pride when my sons made bad choices despite my best efforts to teach them right from wrong. Parenthood isn't for wimps!

Deena said...

Carrie, lol no it isn't! These days, my tongue is sore from biting it. lol But my kids know, I'll fight like a bear if someone attempts to victimize them. Thanks so much for stopping by and sharing. :)

As a single mother myself the fact that the heroine is as well is what grabbed my attention, then reading the synopsis and I was like "Sold!!"
...but being a single mother I'm always broke! :( So yea, I'd LOVE to win a copy (though I've never read an ebook).

Emma is my kind of mama, do whatever it takes to take care of that baby--just like I did! Her hubby chose another woman, mine chose a bottle. Don't suppose you could sent ME a hot angel?? LoL
Thanks for the giveaway!
