Goals!

Okay, so still not keeping up with my book talk Wednesdays but I'm at #5 on the Harry Potter books--no wait, I'm on #6.  Really, although I'm whining abit about having to read them, it's no torture.  Rowling is such a genius!  Even though I've seen the movies, I'm still engrossed, finally understanding those things that didn't make sense in the movies.  But I am looking forward to "recreational" reading when I'm done.  Several of my favorite authors have new releases that I'm dying to dive into.

How's it going with my latest book, HAUNTING DESIRE?  Well I'm happy to report it's going swimmingly (and not in the help, I'm drowning way.)  I always have aha moments when I'm writing.  With HAUNTING BEAUTY it was when I realized that Sean was....uh, well if you read it you know.  See, I didn't realize that particular twist until I was about 1/3 way into writing.  And with HAUNTING WARRIOR, it was when I realized that--oops, can't tell that one either and since no one has read it, I really better not go there.  Anyway, I had that moment with HAUNTING DESIRE and I got that shivery, shrink-wrap feeling that pulled everything together and made me think I actually might pull off another book.  :)

Be sure to stop by on Friday.  I'll be featuring debut author Gini Koch and talking about her new release TOUCHED BY AN ALIEN.  I tell you, if her book is half as much fun as Gini herself, it's going to be a big winner!  I'm sure there will be a giveaway in there too, so don't be a stranger!

As for goals....I am right on track with mine.  How about you?  Any outrageous goals you've made that you're surprising yourself by hitting?

Feel like winning...stop by Modokker Book Picks and leave a comment

I love hearing from readers and Lisa just reviewed HAUNTING BEAUTY on her blog Modokker Book Picks. I was so happy to see it that I offered to give away an autographed book to one lucky winner. Just leave a comment at http://modokkerbookpicks.blogspot.com/?zx=1ae7d0f5f6b66c76  to enter.

If you've reviewed one of my books, be sure to let me know.  I think contests are great fun and a fabulous way to meet new readers!

Holy Batshit!

I just looked at my calendar and realized Haunting Warrior is going to be on shelves in just about 5 weeks!  It felt like forever to wait and now it's almost here.  It's like those last weeks of pregnancy--anxious, excited, hoping no fingers or toes are missing (metaphorically of course) and praying the delivery is quick and painless.

My Harry Potter update--1/4 through book 5, Order of Phoenix.  Man, is Rowling a genuis or WHAT????  How did she think up all that stuff?  Loving them, but will be glad when I'm through it all.  Why?  Because in the next 5 weeks I have the following to do:

1.  Day job--never goes away
2.  Finish reading 2 1/2 monster sized HP books, write 3 papers and a final term paper
3.  Finish writing Haunting Desire, turn it in
4.  Finish scheduling appointments for the Desert Dreams conference (I am the appointment chair because, obviously, I don't have enough going on in my life and I'm a freaking CRAZY woman)
5.  Finally get my well-deserved nervous break down-- oh wait, no I don't.  I have to then start promoting Haunting Warrior because it releases the day after I turn in Haunting Desire.
6.  Now do I get my breakdown?

Irony is my life

It's so true.  I started this little feature on my blog to talk about books on Wednesday and then I started a class where I have to read all the Harry Potter books and do a critical analysis on them at the same time.  It was okay during the first few books because they were relatively short, but now I'm into the meaty ones and so that's all I'm reading.  Don't get me wrong, they are great!  But you all have been giving me some awesome recommendations and now I can't wait to do ME reading.  Sigh.

So, tease me with your reading lists.  What have you been reading?

Books and more....

So I know I said I didn't plan on talking about the Harry Potter books, but truly, how can I not?  They are so wonderful.  I just started #4 (Goblet of Fire) and now I'm getting into the books that I didn't read.  (I stopped reading them when the movies started because the movies followed the stories so closely--and with young kids I KNEW I'd be seeing the movies hundreds of times).  Anyway, what a brilliant writer JK Rowling is.

Also finished REVENGE WEARS RUBIES.  Loved it.  Renee Bernard creates the best characters and her books manage to be smoking hot and still be highly emotional.  Looking forward to the next book in the series!

What are you reading?  I've been getting great recommendations so keep them coming!

And now a contest.  Prize?  Reader's choice of one of my Erin Grady books (Whispers, Echoes).  To win, tell me what the "IT" factor is for the heroine's in your favorite books.  What is the one thing the leading lady MUST have/do/be to really make you relate to her?  (If there's more than one, by all means, let me know).

Happy Reading!
Erin

As promised...

So I finished HIS CAPTIVE LADY by Anne Gracie last night and I loved it.  The story had such a wonderful theme and Harry Morant is a fabulous hero.  Gracie's Devil Riders Series is definitley one I'll be following.  I love when I learn something from a book (while I'm being entertained and falling in love, of course) and I did with this one.  Anne makes note at the end of the Foundling Museum in London and how it moved her.  That emotion is definitely present in her book.  If you're a fan of Regency, this was a great one.
Next up?  I started Renee Bernard's REVENGE WEARS RUBIES last night and wow.  I love Renee's voice and the way she hooks a reader from page one.  I really didn't want to stop reading, but alas, the day job has its demands and one of them is getting my sleepy butt out of bed in the morning.  sigh.

Books?

Well, I missed my books to talk about this week because my deadline is looming and the only book I've been talking about is the one I'm writing.  But, I did manage to finish the second Harry Potter and I'm 3/4 through the third and I'm reading a lovely romance by fellow Berkley author Anne Gracie.  I've read her THE STOLEN PRINCESS and thought it delightful, but somehow missed the next book in the Devil Riders series, HIS CAPTIVE LADY, until now.  I'm sure it will keep me up past bedtime tonight and I'll post about it tomorrow or Saturday, depending on how heavy my eyelids are.  :-)

What are you reading?  I always love to hear about new books?
